Trachycarpus fortunei 200-225cm 90L

£399.99

Trachycarpus fortunei is also known as the Chinese Windmill Palm, or Chamaerops excelsa. It has a strong, fibre-covered trunk, typical of tropical palms. New growth appears from the crown like green swords which then open to fan-shaped dark green leaves up to 1 metre in width. In summer, and once mature, this plant produces large, arching stems of small, light yellow flowers, followed by seed.

T.fortunei is winter hardy in the UK climate, preferring a spot in full sun or partial shade. It is easy to grow, although it is best to shelter from strong winds to avoid frond damage. These trees can reach a maximum height of over 12 metres and a maximum spread of around 2 metres.
